This compelling piece of architecture is the Yokohama International Port Terminal in Japan. A competition was held in Japan between 1994-1995 for the design of this port terminal. The architects who won this competition and designed this port terminal are Mr. Alejandro Zaera-Polo and Ms. Farshid Moussaka from the UK. Their design was picked from a total of 660 submissions from 41 countries, making this the biggest ever international competition held in Japan. This building not only attracted attention not only domestically but also internationally and received the Worldwide award in 2004 for architectural designs excellence.
